NatCon 2010 Chronicles

To all my NatCon 2010 friends... Here's something for everyone to enjoy - a collection of poems written representing each day of the convention. =)

NatCon 2010 - Day 1

From the four winds,
from the distant horizons
you called, with roaring trumpets
a myriad of colours
of different shades,
of different tones
each bringing, a different song.

Here I am,
at this vantage point
watching the rainbows weave themselves
and their songs resound before you
as you come and take your place
at your throne before the soaring banners,
sitting silently, slowly observing...

what you are about to do next.

NatCon 2010 - Day 2

Dawn breaks
as the sleepers wake
from their previous early slumber
embraced by the morning rays
and the gentle sea breeze
waiting at the balcony.

Silence broken, by the trail of steps
out of the rooms, down the elevator
scattered, but settled.
Silence root on the empty bench
as ears yearn, patiently waiting
for the gentle voice, among the rolling waves...

And eyes fixed
upon the endless seas,
and the golden gleams,
and the birds above it,
and the face of our Sovereign King...
Who first made them all.

Reflections.

NatCon 2010 - Day 3

The key turned
unlocking the attic's door.
Eyes peering slowly
into the dust covered corners
and the many cobwebs
surrounding the abandoned treasures.

Flawed, broken,
dumped and looked away
but priceless gems they really are
if one would only take them up
to repair and put together, the missing pieces
of our hope and dreams, long abandoned.

For God,
for our nation,
for our future generations,
for love...
For the I AM who has sent us out
into the world we are now living in.

Change.

NatCon 2010 - Day 4

The assembly gathered,
a multitude of different cultures;
echoing roars of the congregation
of different tongues, and life
shook the very hall
every time a speaker rose
one by one,
from among them all.

The chalice of their hearts
poured out in the open
and rippled to the corners
as everyone else gather
sitting around the standing centre
each bringing a burning torch
flames kindled, fed by the fuel -
and a bonfire was born.

Voices.

NatCon 2010 - Day 5

The roaring sea
of interveaved fabric
filled the floor
and the empty stage
with the lively music
and graceful dances
and waves after waves
of soul-stirring laughter...

And all suddenly halted
as the youthful flowers
and the playful birds
stand to witness
the change of direction
and the passing of the baton
of a legacy, a dream, and a hope...
from one season, to the next.

Commission.

NatCon 2010 - Day 6 (and Epilogue)

The road finally reaches its end
as the final meeting gather
before the giant throne
and the same golden trumpets
that first summoned them
from the four ends of the land.

Tears walked with joy
together hand in hand
as comrades embrace
and exchange pledges,
locking shields
before returning to their battlefields.

The fire burn higher
as each draws a flame,
placed it in their hearts
while the fragrance of incense
flies away, from the sacred altar
with offerings, of covenantal promises.

The end of the journey
and a new beginning.

***

And may the drink offerings be poured
and the cups returned empty
and the seeds that are planted
grow into an orchard
filled with the choicest fruit
plump, filled with life
worthy for the King of Kings
to be pleased with his servants
as they went out for the harvest
daring to shine in the darkness,
and spreading love to the world,
heading upstream
in pursuing their dreams
in making this world a better place
and for all to acknowledge
his grand boundless glory
reigning, eternity over eternity.

Risk it. U-Turn.
